Biography
My first memories are of sitting on the counter, watching my mother cook up a storm for dinner. The smell of sauteeing onions is like a security blanket for me, a multi-sensory map of the ongoing journey of my life. I have spent the better part of 25 years honing and developing my passion for food; it has been my pleasure and, truly, my destiny. Nutrition, sustainability, community, and above all, sharing damn good food are among my top priorities. Thoughtfully considering and contempating all of these things, I have devoted my life to nourishing the body and feeding the soul.
I believe that food is the most powerful necessity we will consume. It has the power to harm, as we see with such rampant obesity, heart disease, diabetes, cancers, and autoimmune disorders. More importantly, it has the power to heal. Chicken soup is my medicine. My kitchen is my pharmacy. To me, we all have choices in this life. We can't control everything, but one thing we can control is how we take care of ourselves, and how we take care of each other. Breaking bread with my friends and family is not only wholesome, it is healing.
